THE BAILEY PARK NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
The Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation (BPNDC), formally known at the Bailey Park Project, was founded in 2013 by Katrina Watkins, a former social worker, educator, and long-time resident of the McDougall-Hunt. Dedicated to empowering her community in an impactful manner, Katrina created the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation to help strengthen the McDougall-Hunt neighborhood by creating programs that encourage safety, sustainability, and stewardship. The Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation began by initiating community clean-up projects – picking up trash, removing dead trees, and clearing overgrowth from vacant lots and parks.
By 2016 the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation had become an instrumental force in the neighborhood by expanding its scope to include social impact projects that address poverty, blight, environmental sustainability, safety, health & wellness, education, and economic development.
To accomplish these goals the BPNDC has partnered with organizations such as McDougall-Hunt Neighborhood Association, The Cedar Tree Foundation, Eastside Community Network, U-Snap Bac, Quickens Loans, Detroit Future City, Eco Works, Mecca Development Corporation, Comerica Bank, MDOT, Team Rubicon and Comerica Bank.
